Synopsis of The Art of the Steal
Documentary that follows the struggle for control of Dr. Albert C. Barnes' 25 billion dollar collection of modern and post-impressionist art.
The Art of the Steal is the subtitled untold story of the Barnes Foundation, and it is just plain terrific. It's everything you want from a documentary. Its got interesting people, its got suspense, its got venal villains, and bigger than life heroes, its really terrific. At 101 minutes, and it is one of those things that will just make you feel like you need to do something. And fortunately, its not life or death, there are no starving children in it and no atrocities other than just venal guys, who's only impulse seems to be to make more money. Terrific, fun, and motivating for the viewer. Yay! Four stars.
