The September Issue

Synopsis of
The September Issue

The September 2007 issue of Vogue magazine weighed nearly five pounds, and was the single largest issue of a magazine ever published. With unprecedented access, this film tells the story of legendary Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour and her larger-than-life team of editors creating the issue and ruling the world of fashion.

The September Issue is a documentary that follows Anna Wintour who is the manager and chief and Vogue forever on whom the movie, The Devil Wears Prada was based. Because of the September Issue has become the bible of Vogue magazine and we see who she is and all of her minion and some of who the good guys and the bad guys are. And if nothing else, to watch all the fashion is great fun. And you know, I have kind of mixed feelings about this because I think to a certain extent that the movie really sort of makes her look kind of like a monster. On the other hand, there is sort of a grudging respect for somebody who has such a clear vision. And she is not very nice to her troops and she doesn't play well with others but man she has been successful. And that issue about successful women is that they are all considered the B word. But this is really a very interesting documentary if you are interested in power, or women, or even I suppose fashion. So I give it four stars.
